Tonkinese Cat

This little sweetie was beaded for John's daughter Nuala.
Who had a siamese cat called Paloma.
And was completed in 2004.
Pattern was from Jill Oxton's Issue no. 72 of
"Cross Stitch and Bead Weaving"magazine.
It was completed using the Square Stitch method.
Size 11 Delica beads and size D Nymo thread.
The pattern called for using only a light coloured cotton,
but because I decided to frame the oval with black beads, the white
cotton could be seen showing through in between the black beads
and detracted from the over all look of the picture.
I decided to use two cotton, black and the light, using the black
thread with the black beads and swapping for the light for the cat.
When swapping one colour to the other I had to weave the
black cotton through the back of the first couple of light green
beads on the rim of the oval to connect it to the other beads,
and then picked the cotton up again on the return row.
If I could see the black cotton showing through the light green
beads,I ran the light coloured cotton through the bead, but on the front side
of the black cotton, this disguised the black cotton and turned the green
bead to the right colour once again.
